POLITICS

Politics in not a personal thing! It describes how I make myself part of community and a shared experience. It tears downs the barriers where I hoard myself behind secure walls. At times, the intensity of a moment causes us to be swept up in a political movement. A well-developed politics gives us the context for such an experience so that we can focus such emotions.

Politics is not about doing something. You are already political. The only way to create action is to assume that you are already moving. Where are you going to take your political action? How will you steer the future?

To assert my politics, I reach out to others so that they can use my invitation to create a supportive community. Figure that out!

I am an artist. I have worked out the details of my arts in a political fashion. I therefore craft my politics by advancing these arts. Politics per se intervenes where the audience may not see the connection. In a society, where musicians become entrepreneurs and wield significant economic power, you better hope that they have a political point of view.

For some, political commentary comes all too easy. They don a slogan and take it as sufficient. Their actions and allegiances belie their professed politics. That is why politics must be advanced by a wink and a smile.

How can I affect my immediate surroundings? How do I act sothat I can affect those close to me. How do I not get lost in theimmediacy of my own connections.

In a society, where musicians become entrepreneurs and wieldsignificant economic power, you better hope that they have apolitical point of view.
