WHO IS KENNY CRUCIAL? ![]() Many of you have seen me at shows. Some of you wonder if I am a writer for a newspaper or if I
keep a music blog. And we all create rumors to help us understand people who we see a great
deal but know little about. So I realize that there are rumors about me, that concert guy. I
welcome your interest. You are all part of why I love going to see bands. A lot of you save up your money to see a few special shows of your favorite bands. Or you plan
a trip to a big music festival such as Bonnaroo. For a few hours out of your day or a few days of
the year, you can forget about the drudgery of work or the pressures of school. But it’s more than
that. Fans talk about a show high, that feeling of excitement that you get after seeing a great show.
You don’t want to come down. You want that feeling to last. You show up early and hang out with other fans as you wait for the doors to open. This is all
part of the experience. These are people who like the same bands as you do. You’re finally in
your element. You feel as if you belong. I became overwhelmed by this feeling. I made it my art. I watched how people enjoyed
themselves at shows. I talked to them about their experience. I got to know members of bands
that I really like. I wrote a short novel about a fan who becomes a manager of a band. I myself
went to England to record an album of my music. In a sense, I lived live my life like a fabulous
novel. I used to teach College English. But I now make this my new classroom. And I continue to learn
fascinating things every day. I play in the band Mack Messiah. I continue to write novels that I post to my website. And I go
to a lot of shows, many of them of local bands. I want to get to know you. I am writing a new novel, Groundswell. I am trying to involve visual artists in the Groundswell
Project. You can check out our promo video: GROUNDSWELL VIDEO Some friends have independently started a Where’s Kenny Facebook page to track me at shows.
They invite you to take a picture of me and post it to their page. FACEBOOK’s Kickstarter program offers the opportunity that you can financially help to support Kenny Crucial continue his research. Explore the Groundswell Kickstarter. |
